Empowering change through Compassion, Accountability, Reflection and Empathy. The CARE Method is designed to help individuals overcome challenges and build healthier relationships.

Now implemented
across the state of
Colorado & New Jersey

Our goal is to expand The CARE Method across the country, providing clinicians with a practical, person-centered approach that reduces resistance and supports real change in court-mandated clients.

Based on the widely respected Risk-Need-Responsivity
RNR Model
Risk
Principle

This principle focuses on targeting interventions to individuals who present a higher risk of reoffending. By identifying and prioritizing those with a higher risk, resources can be allocated more effectively, leading to better outcomes in reducing recidivism.

Need
Principle
Focuses on criminogenic needs—factors like substance abuse, poor impulse control, or antisocial attitudes—that contribute to criminal behavior. Addressing these through evidence-based strategies can greatly reduce the risk of reoffending.
Responsivity
Principle
Emphasizes the importance of tailoring interventions to match each person’s learning style, abilities, motivation, and background. By adjusting the approach to fit their unique needs and traits, the intervention becomes more effective and meaningful.

Built for Real Change

Built on Experience. Driven by Compassion.

My journey from Brazil to the U.S. began with a simple goal—to learn English and return home to teach. But life took a different turn. Leaving behind family and a career in mining, I found my true purpose in counseling. Today, I’m the founder of Vivus Counseling and creator of The CARE Method, a person-centered, trauma-informed model built from years of experience working with marginalized and court-mandated clients. Every step of the way has shaped my mission: to help others heal, grow, and transform.
